Marion C. Manski, RDH, MS, Associate Professor and Director Fones School of Dental Hygiene, University of Bridgeport. She earned her certificate and associate's degree in 1983 from The Forsyth School for Dental Hygienists and Northeastern University in Boston Massachusetts. She earned her bachelor of science degree in dental hygiene at the University of Maryland School of Dentistry in 1988. Professor Manski also graduated from the University of Maryland Graduate School (UMB) with a master of science degree in 2004. She is an Associate Professor and serves as the Director of the program. As such, she is involved in administration, curriculum academic advising, overseeing the program’s strategic plan and goals. Prior to Professor Manski coming to Fones, she was Associate Professor and Director, and Director of Admissions at the University of Maryland School of Dentistry’s Dental Hygiene Program. Professor Manski participated in research and service as part of her academic duties. She has participated as PI of the Maryland Oral Health Plan, Co-Investigator Sealant Demonstration Project, Maryland State Based Oral Disease Prevention Program and has participated in multi-center clinical studies. She was the Dental Hygiene Coordinator of the 2015-16 Maryland Oral Health Survey and served as a Faculty Champion on the UMSOM's Jacques Initiative Preparing the Future Task Group; an inter professional initiative to educate students on normalizing testing of HIV.

She was honored by her students with an Excellence in teaching award in 2005. She was also honored by her students as the Teacher of the Year in 2008. She was honored by her peers with the Maryland Dental Hygienists' Association Symbol of Excellence Award in 2013. She was appointed by Maryland Governor Larry Hogan in 2015 and served until 2018 on the Maryland Commission for Women. Ms. Manski serves on the editorial review board of The Journal of Dental Education, Dimensions of Dental Hygiene and Perspectives of the Midlevel Practioner. She served as the Connecticut Dental Hygienists’ Association as Trustee of Southeastern Connecticut Dental Hygienists’ Association and Chair of the Legislative Committee. She represented Connecticut and Maryland as Delegate to the American Dental Hygienists’ Association (ADHA). She served as Minutes Chair for ADHA in 2018 and 2019. She also served on the American Dental Hygienists' Association CODA Standards Task Force 2016-17. Ms. Manski assists in the teaching of local anesthesia here at UB to students and is the Course Director of the Local Anesthesia for Dental Hygienists Continuing Education course for licensed hygienists. Professor Manski coordinated the local anesthesia program at UMSOD. She was instrumental in the passing of legislation for local anesthesia and served on the ad hoc committee of the Maryland State Board of Examiners in the creation of the rules and regulations. She has educated over 1000 hygienists regarding local anesthesia. Ms. Manski was honored nationally by her peers in 2016 as a “Mover and Shaker” in Dimensions of Dental Hygiene's Annual Six Dental Hygienists You Want to Know. The American Dental Hygienists' Association honored Ms. Manski nationally in 2017 with the ADHA Irene Newman Award.
