Dr. Hossion has a diverse background in education, teaching and research from multiple institutions. He has several experiences in teaching undergraduate/graduate students, including a faculty position of Chemistry Professor at Cloud County Community College, Assistant Professor of Chemistry at Fort Hays State University, Chemistry Adjunct Faculty at Haskell Indian Nations University and others. He pursued postdoctoral studies in multidisciplinary research and in interdisciplinary teaching at College of Pharmacy of the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center, School of Medicine of the University of Pittsburgh and the University of Kansas, from July 2011 to July 2016.
In 2013, he was awarded the NIH IRACDA fellowship at the University of Kansas to develop undergraduate education and to assist the students from groups underrepresented. He had mentored and trained undergraduate research students at the University of Kansas, Fort Hays State University and Cloud County Community College. In his postdoctoral studies in multidisciplinary research, he discovered a promising cancer treatment of photo-unclick chemistry of visible light controlled release of anticancer drugs via singlet oxygen. He served as reviewer for several Journals including American Chemical Society Journal of Medicinal Chemistry, where he was recognized as an outstanding reviewer in 2013. He is the editor of the book “Vancomycin: Biosynthesis, Clinical Uses and Adverse Effects”. He is serving as an editor of SF Journal of Pharmaceutical and Analytical Chemistry, reviewer of ACS (American Association of Chemistry) Omega Journal and as American Association of Chemistry Teachers-American Chemical Society Science Coach for Chemistry teacher around Bridgeport, CT.
Hossion's research interests are in multidisciplinary research at the chemistry/biology interface with an emphasis on the discovery and development of small molecule-based tools that manipulate biological processes and novel therapeutic agents with potential for treatment of human disease.
Dr. Hossion joined the University of Bridgeport in August 2021 and has much enthusiasm to explore the undergraduate chemistry education program. He is currently providing Hands on Research training in multidisciplinary research to the Chemistry minor and Biology major Students College of Science & Society or or Medical Science major College of Health and science. His research student at University of Bridgeport has acceptance to UCONN Chemistry Department REU program. He is collaborating with the mini-grant support at University of Bridgeport and the UCONN to support NSF funded CAP program.
