Dr. Elleithy has worked in academia for the past 30 years in various administrative and teaching roles, including Ph.D. Program Director, Online MS Program Advisor, Associate Dean for Engineering, Associate Vice President for Graduate Studies and Research, Associate Dean of the College of Engineering, Business, and Education, and Dean of the College of Engineering, Business, and Education.

Dr. Elleithy has published over 400 research papers in national and international journals and conferences, with more than 6,700 Google Scholar citations. His recent research focuses on cybersecurity, wireless communication security, microstrip antenna design, steganography, mobile collaborative learning environments, QoS routing protocols in wireless multimedia sensor networks, disaster recovery processes over wireless sensor networks, and quantum cryptography, all making significant contributions to science and technology.

Dr. Elleithy has actively participated in numerous professional societies over the past 30 years, including the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM), and the American Society for Engineering Education (ASEE). This involvement includes organizing conferences and workshops, serving in leadership positions, editing journals, and engaging in various other activities.

Dr. Elleithy has served as the PI or Co-PI for over $3 million in funded research projects over the past twenty years. Sponsors include the NSF, ARDEC, the United Nations, the Connecticut NASA Space Grant, Cisco, the University of Connecticut's START program, the University of Bridgeport's CTNEXT, Saudi Aramco, and the King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology (KACST).
Dr. Elleithy received the Distinguished Professor of the Year Award from the University of Bridgeport in 2005. He was awarded the 2015 Connecticut Quality Improvement Award (CQIA) Gold Innovation Award. In December 2017, he was elected a Fellow of the African Academy of Sciences in recognition of his contributions to Wireless Sensor Networks and Wireless Communications. In 2020, he was honored as the IEEE Connecticut Section Outstanding Member in Academia.

Dr. Elleithy is a member of the technical program committees of many international conferences as recognition of his research qualifications. He served as a guest editor for several international journals. He was the chairperson of the International Conference on Industrial Electronics, Technology & Automation. Furthermore, he is the co-Chair and co-founder of the Annual International Joint Conferences on Computer, Information, and Systems Sciences, and Engineering virtual conferences 2005 – 2014.

Dr. Elleithy is a member of several technical and honorary societies. He is a Senior Member of the IEEE computer society. He is a member of the Association of Computing Machinery (ACM) since 1990, member of ACM SIGARCH (Special Interest Group on Computer Architecture) since 1990, member of the honor society of Phi Kappa Phi University of South Western Louisiana Chapter since April 1989, member of IEEE Circuits & Systems society since 1988, member of the IEEE Computer Society since 1988, and a lifetime member of the Egyptian Engineering Syndicate since June 1983.
