Dr. Jennifer Brett, ND, LAc. is the founding director of the UB Acupuncture Institute. She graduated in 1987 from the National College of Naturopathic Medicine and graduated in 1988 from the Tri-State College of Acupuncture. She is currently the Treasurer for the Council of Colleges of Acupuncture and Herbal Medicine (CCAHM) and chair of the CCAHM Research Committee and editor of the CCAHM Clean Needle Technique Manual.

Dr. Brett worked to create an acupuncture degree program in which students and graduates become caring and responsible citizens and skilled healthcare professionals.

Since the time that Jennifer Brett graduated in 1988, the respect for acupuncture in the medical community has grown significantly.

Recently, integrative medicine, defined as a healthcare system that is multidisciplinary and enhances competence, mutual respect and collaboration across all healthcare disciplines, has embraced acupuncture, and as a result acupuncturists now practice in hospitals and multidisciplinary healthcare settings.

It is Dr. Brett's vision that acupuncturists become respected members of the healthcare community in all its various functions, from acute in-patient to chronic, ambulatory care, research, and training.
