Prior to joining University of Bridgeport in August 2024, Dr. Jones served in central office and building leadership roles in several Connecticut public school districts, including Director of Elementary Education and elementary principal. In her most recent position, she designed PreK-5 curriculum and instruction, led districtwide professional learning with leaders, teachers and support staff, and supervised reading and curriculum specialist teacher-leaders. She also established a middle school reading program, initiated a K-12 Dyslexia Workgroup, and managed federal and state grants.​ For 15 years, she taught elementary grades in schools in Fairfield and Hartford Counties. Dr. Jones is a member of the Learning Forward Annual Conference Host Committee (Boston 2025) and supports an elementary student through the West Hartford Mentor Program.

Throughout her career, Dr. Jones has fostered collaborative, agentic processes to build educator capacity for teaching and leading with compassion, a focus on high-quality teaching and learning experiences, and relentless pursuit of equity for all children and their families.​
