Maria Gherasimova joined the University of Bridgeport faculty in 2010. Previously, she held a faculty position at Southern Connecticut State University, postdoctoral appointments at University of Virginia and Yale University, and a visiting scientist position at IBM T. J. Watson Research Center. Prof. Gherasimova’s research expertise includes semiconductor materials science, nanoscale synthesis and advanced in situ electron microscopy. Her teaching and course development portfolio includes undergraduate courses in physics and introductory engineering, and graduate courses in nanoscale materials science and nanotechnology. Prof. Gherasimova holds a Ph.D. degree in Engineering and Applied Science from Yale University, and a B.S. degree in Physics from Southern Connecticut State University.
