I started my career path as an EMT on the streets of Phoenix, as a CNA in nursing facilities and an ER Technician in Phoenix trauma center. Wanting to learn more I embarked on a world tour with the military where I came to appreciate the structures and systems in place in this country and especially in healthcare around the world in many areas of suffering due to the ravages of war and true poverty. After returning home I decided on a career path that would allow me to combine my love of teaching, first shown to me in the military, with my desire to participate in the community. At the time I did not have an awareness of what “Nursing” was but I knew that I wanted to continue to embrace the challenge of healing and I began to explore options in healthcare. The end result is having become a Paramedic of multiple certification levels and a Nurse with multiple degrees and certifications and am perfectly happy to practice and teach both aspects of healthcare.
