Professor Nawrocki joined the University of Bridgeport faculty in 2007 and was appointed Dean of the College of Science and Society in 2023.

She served as Associate Dean (Dec. 2022-Aug. 2023), Director of the Division of Arts and Humanities (2021-2023) and Chair of the English Department (2018-2023). As an Associate Professor of English, she teaches writing, literature, and poetry. She is the Chair of the General Education Committee.

As a poet, Nawrocki is the author of six poetry collections and the recipient of numerous awards including honors from The Hamden Arts Commission, The Connecticut Poetry Society, New Millennium Writings, and The Connecticut Center for the Book. She has performed her work on campus and across the region in bookstores, libraries, and poetry festivals. Her most recent collection, Mouthbrooders, was a finalist for the 2020 Connecticut Book Award. Her nonfiction book, The Comet’s Tail: A Memoir of No Memory, was a 2018 Foreword Review INDIES finalist for best memoir and has been awarded a Gold Medal for the Living Now Mind-Body-Spirit Awards.

In addition to her work in poetry, Professor Nawrocki is the co-author of five books that focus on the history and culture of Connecticut. She has lectured numerous times on Connecticut's culture and its traditions and is a regular contributor to Edible Nutmeg and The Wayfarer.
