Dr. Robert N. Femminella holds a Ph.D. in Mind–Body Medicine from Saybrook University in Oakland, California. His research focused on chronic musculoskeletal pain and the use of music and guided imagery for the reduction of this type of pain. His Ph.D. journey began at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey (UMDNJ), working on a project with surgeons doing orthognathic jaw surgery designed to determine whether guided imagery and meditation could reduce biomarkers of inflammation and anxiety.
Dr. Femminella holds three Masters Degrees, one in Medical Biology with a specialization in Immunology and a sub-specialization in Microbiology from Long Island University, a Masters in Human Nutrition from the University of Bridgeport and a Masters in Health Sciences from Rutgers University. His undergraduate concentrations are in Chemistry and Biology. He has taught college for the past 30 years at all levels in Bio-Organic Chemistry, Physiology, Microbiology, entry level Biology, majors Biology, Human Biological Nutrition and Pathophysiology for nursing students. He has taught as an adjunct professor at Nassau Community College for 28 years and received the SUNY Chancellor Award for Excellence in Adjunct Teaching in 2021.
He has worked as a pharmaceutical analytical chemist and is a nationally board certified clinical nutritional specialist (CNS). His practice in nutrition has been devoted to clients with serious illnesses for the past 27 years.
